About the Author

Soon after I graduated from The Ohio State University in Industrial Engineering, I discovered I was a problem solving “tools junkie.” I quickly began to assemble a collection of tools, techniques and methodologies which I labeled an “Analysts Bag of Tricks.”

I worked in the aerospace industry, in technology, in consulting and in government.

As a consultant I had clients in the private sector, federal, state and local government and in education. I worked for over a dozen different organizations from Washington D.C. to California, and over the years my toolbox grew.

When I “retired” from going into the office every day, I decided to share my bag of tricks with the world through the Internet. The premise was four-fold:

#1       Each Tool would be described on a single letter-size page, printed front and back, ideal as a Handout.

#2       Each Tool would have a unique number so it could always be tracked and kept current through version control.

#3       The Tool Abstracts would be given away.

#4       The Toolbox will be continuously added to with new Tools.

I got side-tracked for a number of years before developing this website. During that period I found a number of websites already offering tools and techniques, and I plan to list them for you. There are some really good sites.

Speaking of other sources, except for two tools, every tool I am sharing the core idea originated from somewhere else. I just added my own twist that I hope makes that tool more useful to you. The two tools I did create from scratch are, #6 Levels of Involvement and #7 Meeting Memo, so be sure and check them out.
